Trenton NAACP Youth Council
Presidents Message: Welcome to the Trenton Youth Council NAACP website. As youth council president, I’m pleased to introduce myself and to share with you all that Trenton Youth Council NAACP has to offer. The Trenton Youth Council implements the civil rights agenda of the parent organization by developing our youth’s leadership skills and providing opportunities to lead and serve communities. The members of the Council learn about the civil rights movement and work to improve the educational, economical and social empowerment of all youth in the community. Members attend various community events and meetings to stay abreast of what’s going on in the community and determine if there is a need for action from the Council in response to any particular event or issue. A continued focus of the Trenton NAACP Youth Council is to inspire and motivate our youth to develop positive relationships within the community. The NAACP believes strongly that future leaders must be developed today, and such development is ongoing in the Youth & College Division, created in 1936. Today there are more than 30,000 young people representing 600 Youth Councils, High School Chapters and College Chapters actively involved in the fight for civil rights. The NAACP has one of the largest organized groups of young people of any secular organization in the country. As we continue to grow and develop, we hope that you will join us!
Hope to see you soon,
Briahna P. Thompson

READ ACROSS TRENTON
Trenton NAACP Youth Council will kick our Read Across Trenton program during Black History Month by participating in the Twenty-Six National African American Read-In. Our Youth will be visiting various sites to read books, speeches, and poems authored by African Americans. We will be visiting one site per week and the information regarding each site can be found on our calendar.
